Awakening the Volva – 4-Part Course on Seidr [Online, with optional in-person ritual]

26 March, 2, 9, 16 April 2026, 7pm – 9pm online
optional in-person rite on 18 April in London

Katie Gerrard and Andre Henriques offer an introductory course in Seidr, the Scandinavian shamanistic practices that inspire so many today. Exploring both historical sources and contemporary traditions, students are guided and supported to begin practising Seidr themselves.

The Volvas were Norse ‘shamans’ who prophesied from the threads of fate, ‘seeing’ for their communities. This course aims to help students awaken the Seer within, so they may serve their friends and communities from this role. It covers the High Seat rite, the web of Wyrd, Seers in antiquity, working with deities and ancestors, and the Nine Worlds of Norse cosmology.

No previous experience is required. However, the programme includes practical trance work, so some experience in paganism, shamanism, meditation, mediumship, or other kinds of trance work may be beneficial.

In this 4-part online course, Andre Henriques teaches students how to read the runes for the purposes of divination, magic and internal spiritual work. In the first session, students are introduced to their historical, mythical and magical contexts, learning about the old rune poems and how use of the runes has evolved for modern practitioners. The following 3 sessions are each dedicated to a group (aett) of 8 runes – making 24 in total – when students can expect to learn both the literal meanings and numerous correspondences of each rune. To cement learning, Andre supplies meditations and practical exercises throughout.

Oracular Seidr Ceremony – The Great Heathen Gathering 2025

9 August, 12pm – 2pm

The Great Heathen Gathering (GHG) is the mightiest conclave of UK Heathens of the year! Part of Asatru UK’s Mobile Vé Project, this yearly gathering sanctifies and honours a Godpost dedicated to a democratically chosen deity. Over 3-4 glorious days, you will revel in a feast of talks, workshops, a bustling trader village, soul-stirring rituals, and evening entertainment worthy of the halls of the gods. This year, we stand in honour of Tyr, the steadfast god of justice and courage! ‌

I am very excited and honoured to run an Oracular Seidr session for the Asatru UK community at this gathering.

The Runes of Wardruna – Lecture & Ritual @ Treadwell’s in London

30 August, 2pm – 6pm

Come and experience Wardruna’s haunting music in a ritualistic setting, where their songs about Runes are played as part of a Heathen Norse-inspired ceremony.

Several pagan bands refer to their concerts as rituals nowadays, most notably Heilung. In this in-person event, scholar and Heathen practitioner Andre Henriques discusses some of the song lyrics about runes from Wardruna’s Runaljod album trilogy, and shows how these songs can be applied to a ritual celebration. Many of the lyrics depict profound aspects of Nature and Norse cosmology, and one of the goals of the ceremony is to experience these in a meaningful and heartfelt way.
